BOFE Business Buzz Zone - Get the tools to survive in business at 2011 Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo

Small business-owners, would-be business-owners and aspiring entrepreneurs can get the tools they need to survive in business, with access to top high-profile speakers, at this year’s Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo (BOFE) sponsored by Standard Bank.

Representatives from some of South Africa’s giants and inspiring speakers from a range of industries will motivate and empower visitors in a series of seminars to take place at the Business Buzz Zone during the four-day expo at the Coca-Cola dome at Northgate from the 15 to 18 of September 2011.

“We’ve secured in collaboration with Eskom, Standard Bank and Unique Speaker Bureau, top speakers and successful business people from a range of sectors to talk in the Business Buzz Zone at this year’s expo, giving visitors access to qualified insight and advice for succeeding in business.

“We’re really excited about the calibre of speakers and the topics they’re going to be addressing. We’re sure that expo visitors will get great value from, and be inspired by, what they have to say. Running a business is no walk in the park, and for someone who is just about to embark on the journey, it can be overwhelming. Hearing from people who’ve made it and learning their tricks for tackling business challenges can be a huge source of encouragement for people who are just starting out and motivation for those who’ve been doing it for a while,” says Glynis Anderson, General Manager of Thebe Exhibitions and Projects.

Seminars kick off at 10:15 daily, attending the seminars is free and although there is no need to register, visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat.

Here is a taste of what you can expect:

Five successful businesspeople and public speakers; Pavlo Phitidis, Lebo Gunguluza, Clive Pintusewitz, and Andrew Honey, will host a dynamic roundtable discussion about gaining access to markets, access to finance and access to advice on running a business.

“No business in the world can succeed without these three fundamentals. At Standard Bank we understand this and expend great time, effort and resources into supporting initiatives that accelerate the development of SMEs. Our goal is to assist SMEs as much as we can and we hope that through our roundtable discussion SMEs will have access to information that empowers and enable them to manage and grow their business,” says Marius le Roux, Head of Segment: Small Enterprises at Standard Bank.

Monkwe Mpye, Manager: Eskom Integrated Demand Management, discusses concepts around energy efficiency and looks at some of the ways your business can cut back on consumption and costs. He’ll break down the utility’s various energy efficiency solutions and programmes.

Robin Wheeler, an international speaker, transformation specialist, author and publisher, will talk about “Being Yourself for a Living”. Wheeler is acclaimed for helping people grasp what it takes to thrive in the new economy by encouraging them to make a shift in their thinking. A highly-inspirational speaker, Wheeler will tell you how to innovate and lead in today’s exciting but competitive business landscape.

Standard Bank’s Head of Franchising, Thabiso Ramasike, will be speaking about what he knows best in his presentation, “Franchising and What to Consider”. People considering buying into a franchise can glean helpful advice from a man who was one of only 12 South Africans selected to attend “the Canadian – South African Global Exchange: International Executive Leadership Programme in Banking”.

Siya Mapoko, author of “Conversations with JSE AltX Entrepreneurs”, offers meaningful and qualified insight into “What Makes a Successful Entrepreneur”. For four years, he has been having conversations with some of the most remarkable self-made millionaire and billionaire entrepreneurs to understand their psychological make-up and the deep-rooted principles that set them apart from the rest.
