See What's Hot and Happening in the Green Scene at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010

South Africa’s favourite garden show, Gardenex & Green Living Fair, is back at the Coca-Cola dome, Gauteng, from 26 to 28 March 2010. With some of the country’s leading horticulturists, landscapers and retailers showcasing their talent and products, visitors can expect to see the latest in the green industry, all in one venue. Following the success of 2009, this year promises to offer more than ever before at the country’s leading floriculture and gardening show.

There is so much to do and see at this year’s show including the launch of the new Mara Louw Rose, kitten shows from Royal Canin, Child Welfare’s Going Green Campaign, all your favourite gardening celebrities and authors, Briza Books’ book launches and lots more. Leading green publications have provided significant support to the show and visitors will get to meet the editors and join in some fun and exciting events that make these magazines a hit among their readers. SA Garden’s Lizette Jonker will be showcasing some delicious recipes. Tanya Visser will thrill audiences with her Ready Steady Plant competitions and Simply Green magazine will show visitors what’s new in the green scene.

And, there will be loads of prizes on offer for visitors to Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010. One lucky winner will be jetting off to the jewel of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius, for an unbelievable holiday, courtesy of Preskil Beach Resort and Thompsons Holidays. Other prizes include hampers from Royal Canin, subscriptions from All About Dogs, All About Cats and SA Home Handyman, free magazines to the first visitors to the show from Home, Tuis and SA Garden & Home and books by leading gardening authors from Briza Books.

According to Gardenex & Green Living Fair Project Manager, Wendy Graham, “The show’s focus remains green and we plan to drive this message to all visitors at the show. We have introduced our new mascot, ECO, who will encourage exhibitors and visitors to adopt a green living philosophy in all they do. ECO is on an ambitious drive to collect paper, bottles, plastic and anything that can be recycled. With the support of exhibitors and visitors, we are to make a difference to our environment. Child Welfare SA will be collecting recycling products to raise funds to help children in their many Child Welfare centres across the country.”

One of the highlights of the show is, undoubtedly, the launch of the new Mara Louw Rose. From humble beginnings in Soweto an artist with a passion for music, rose above adversity to capture the hearts of people across the world. Mara Louw’s determination to succeed formed the basis of her relationship with the arts. From the age of 10 she displayed a spirit that reflects in her music, values and commitment to her country and fellow South Africans. In 2009 Mara was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Child Welfare South Africa. Her strong ethical values inject the African Renaissance Spirit in all.

And now, one of South Africa’s most-loved musicians has been honoured with her own rose. Mara has always occupied a special place in the hearts of all at Ludwig’s Roses and after an inspirational life, it was fitting that Ludwig Taschner produce a rose that reflects Mara’s passion and love for our country’s children.
